The following letter was sent to the Elk Grove City Council from the Elk Grove Coalition Advocating Proper Planning.
Something to think over before the April 14 Elk Grove City Council meeting regarding Elk Grove's SOI application when it reaches LAFCo. We have all been put on notice, as the application now stands, that "it will be a long and expensive battle." That means one thing to us: LAWSUIT! And that lawsuit means, even if filed at the LAFCo level, that the city of Elk Grove, as the applicant, will be responsible for all legal costs, including reimbursing LAFCo for staff time, etc. That means "our taxpayer dollars."
So our questions are: Is this city council prepared to explain to the Elk Grove taxpayers "the why?" And where is the council going to get the money? We are in a deficit right now. The second waive for foreclosures is on its way. Experts tell us it is going to take Elk Grove seven to 10 years to recover from this economic crises.
This council is responsible for every dollar spent. So we respectfully ask that these questions be answered during deliberation on the 14th:
In closing: Where is the city council going to get the money to fight the lawsuit that is sure to come our way?

Very good point! We, the taxpayers, will have to foot the bill for this fiasco, in addition to having to live with the consequences.
Let them know...WE WILL VOTE YOU ALL OUT OF OFFICE ASAP if you refuse to serve those who put you in office....PERIOD!!!!
