Elk Grove Census Coordinator Urges Mail-in By This Friday

The Elk Grove coordinator of the U.S. Census is urging those in the community who have not yet mailed to please do so by this Friday, April 16.

“If they do not respond by April 16, 2010 we would like to encourage them to cooperate with enumerators (census takes) that will visit their homes,” Daphne Harris Co-Chair Elk Grove Complete Count Committee said.

Constitutionally mandated, the census determine among other things federal funding for local communities and congressional apportionment.

Harris noted that the census form takes no more than ten minutes to fill out and all the information is confidential.

Currently Elk Grove has a 66% participation rate. More information is available at the city’s website.
