A review of the Elk Grove City Clerks website shows that as of 1:00 PM this afternoon, Elk Grove City Council Member Pat Hume still has not filed an amended statement of economic interest. Hume had said he would file an amended disclosure listing meal gifts he had received while on the 2009 "Cap to Cap" lobbying trip sponsored by the Sacramento County Chamber of Commerce.

According to documents filed in March, Hume did not list meals he was found to have accepted while on last years lobbying trip. Fellow council member Gary Davis had listed three meals he had received while on the same trip as Hume and Mayor Sophia Scherman.

Like Hume, Scherman was found to have not listed gift meals she had received while on the trip. Less than a day after EGN reported on the matter, Scherman filed amended forms disclosing the gifts.

At the time of a follow-up story, Hume attributed his failure to note the gift meals on his Economic Interests Statement because he miss-located the documents during a move of his office last year.

Could it be that he is "snubbing his nose" at EG? I find that violating "ethics" rules of the State to be unacceptable behavior. Seems to be a pattern developing.

Don't the laws apply to all elected officials? Or are some exempt because they are privileged and feel the laws don't apply to them?

This has been a pattern for both Mr. Hume and Ms. Scherman. Both have had to amend a lot of their campaign finance forms citing "poor bookeeping" when errors are brought to their attention.

All elected officials have to take a required by law course and sign an affidavit that they understand filing requirements.

Maybe Hume and Scherman should get new treasurers.
