An Elk Grove man who tried to stiff a cabby for his taxi fare was arrested late Saturday night.

According to Elk Grove Police reports, officers were waved down near Bruceville Road and Di Lusso Drive when a customer refused to pay for his taxi fare. Officers contacted 31-year old Ahmad Ayaz of Elk Grove who said he could not pay for the fare.

A records search indicated that the suspect was on probation. When officers attempted to remove Ayaz from the car, he reportedly resisted and placed narcotics into his mouth.

The suspect eventually submitted and the officers were able to recover the narcotics after they were spit out. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
