Depending on your perspective, the results from last Friday night's DUI enforcement checkpoint in Elk Grove could be interpreted as encouraging.

According to Elk Grove Police reports, the enforcement resulted in 9 citations for suspended or unlicensed drivers, 10 towed vehicles, 16 Vehicle code violations and just one DUI arrest.

Perhaps the regular enforcements and public outreach on the hazards of drunk driving are having the intended effect - fewer drunk drivers on the road.

“The Elk Grove Police Department is committed to making sure that the roadways remain safe." said Elk Grove Police Department Public Information Officer Christopher Trim. "Members of the community are encouraged to call 911 if they observe an individuals driving under the influence.”
