A mailer arrived in Elk Grove mailboxes Friday that shockingly revealed a little known secret about Elk Grove City Council Member Pat Hume.
What is the dirty little secret...
That little known secret is that Elk Grove City Council Member Pat Hume has finally decided to embrace his inner-liberalism. The revelation - Pat Hume is a Democrat!
That's right, that pillar of Elk Grove's old-guard-pro-business-Four-Way-Rotary-spouting-rhetoric-from-dais -build-homes-at-any-cost-on-the-100-year-floodplain Pat "I never saw a development I didn't like" Hume is actually a Democrat.
Look for yourself.
On the front side, this mailer is clearly intended to convey Democratic candidates and positions on many of the most visible propositions.
On the flip side we conveniently see "non-partisan" Pat Hume making his pitch to Democratic voters.
Obviously this media purchase, not to mention the money-hungry political operation that sold this spot to Hume, are cleverly trying to mislead voters.
Not only is the deceptive, the strategy is questionable. In a season where Republicans are expected to have a huge year, why fight the tide when Hume and his political mentor Sophia Scherman are easily identified as Elk Grove's best known Republicans?

Pat Hume a closet Democrat! Who'da thunk?
That Burbank slate mailer is a real hoot! He just never ceases to amaze us. A Democrat no less, what will tomorow bring...I can hardly wait.
Oh yea, BTW, mine had a beautiful CA Poppy on it, same flyer though. That's probably because they knew I was a flower child! :-)
