The Elk Grove Community Connection (EGCC) will be holding a town hall meeting on the proposed sports complex planned as a major component of the city of Elk Grove Civic Center project. This important meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Elk Grove City Hall, Council Chambers, 8400 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove, CA 95758, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a meet ‘n greet networking reception. The town hall meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This town hall meeting, noticed as a special council meeting, will be co-hosted and facilitated by the Elk Grove City Council. "I am excited to see the collaborate effort between the city of Elk Grove, our government partners, the citizens of Elk Grove and the business community to explore the feasibility of building a premier sports complex in Elk Grove. This sports complex would serve our community, the Sacramento Region and beyond," states Elk Grove Mayor Steve Detrick.

Presentations will include "The Big Picture," by Tony Asaro, VP of Community Relations for the River Cats, and Sportsplex USA. “Sportsplex USA is excited to explore the construction of a sports complex with the city of Elk Grove. The building of this type of complex would make Elk Grove a sports destination for hundreds of thousands of recreational sports participants each year. As a sports facility operator since 1993, we understand the significant economic impact that this type of facility can have upon a city. There are millions of dollars in economic impact to be earned for the city and local businesses in Elk Grove annually. Our experience, coupled with the desire and passion of Elk Grove’s residents and its leadership has the potential to result in an award-winning sports complex the community can be proud of,” adds Bill Berghoff, President.

Topics to be covered include: Civic Center Overview/Market Study Feasibility; Are there economic benefits to Elk Grove?; How long would it take for Elk Grove to build a sports complex?; What ideas do you have regarding a sports complex in Elk Grove? The meeting will also include a panel discussion from the various Elk Grove Leagues and the Cosumnes Community Services District. After presentations, there will be an interactive question and answer period and the meeting will end with a special raffle
