Thomas L. Nadeau, 1946 - 2011
Elk Grove News is saddened to announce the passing of our esteemed colleague and dear friend, Tom Nadeau. The Maine-native passed away on Thursday, April 28.

A longtime legal-beat reporter, Nadeau wrote for several publications most notably Newsweek, Reuters, Sacramento Bee, The Daily Recorder (Sacramento) and the Appeal-Democrat (Marysville). During his tenure with the Daily Recorder, Nadeau was a regular fixture in the Sacramento Superior Court and was well respected by judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys for his gavel-to-gavel-trial coverage on numerous criminal and civil trials.

Nadeau also had two books published including “Showdown at Bouzy Rouge: The People vs. PG&E” and the humorous "CALL JERRY.” Penned with photographer Peter Stein, with the second election of Jerry Brown, “Call Jerry” has taken on a second life.

Nadeau was also well known in theatrical circles because of his highly-regarded weekly column in the Appeal Democrat, Theaterland. Nadeau also appeared in several stage productions in the Marysville-Yuba City area.

On a personal note, I worked with Tom for several years and found his insight, humor, humanity and intelligence infectious. He was a dear friend, confidant and colleague whose absence will be eternally felt.

A memorial service is being held for Nadeau in Marysville later this morning.
