The Cosumnes Legacy Foundation (CLF) is accepting applications for new members, who are highly-motivated and have a passion for improving areas in the community, to serve on the Board of Directors. The non-profit foundation supports parks, recreation and fire safety programs within the Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) boundaries.

Over the past twelve years the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation has funded numerous rewarding programs and projects. The Foundation has granted 500 children with scholarships for recreational programs and provided $120,000 to construct the first public playground in Sacramento County for children of all abilities. They also awarded the Cosumnes Fire Department $6,000 for Honor Guard uniforms and raised $4,600 for a Learn not to Burn program.

Currently, the Foundation is working with the community to secure necessary funds to complete the Elk Grove Veterans Memorial at Elk Grove Regional Park. Another project new board members will pursue is to secure funds, with help from the community, for the reconstruction of “Pirates Island,” in Elk Grove Regional Park. This pirate themed play structure was dismantled in the 1980s and the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation hopes to acquire funds to rebuild this mystical playground for children to enjoy.

Board members serve 2-3 year terms with meetings 6-times per year. An ideal Foundation board member is willing to participate in fundraising efforts to assist the Foundation in fulfilling its mission. The Board of Directors is responsible for building partnerships with local businesses, organizations and other non-profit organizations.

For more information or to apply please visit, www.cosumneslegacyfoundation.org or call Jenny Smith at (916) 405-7168. Applications may be submitted to the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation President, Chris Camarena, at P.O. Box 668, Elk Grove, CA 95759-0668. All applications must be received by Friday, July 29th for consideration.
