When the Elk Grove City Council meets for their regular meeting next Wednesday night, one of the items they will consider are appointments to the newly formed multicultural committee. Based on the number of applicants, council members have a large pool of candidates to consider.
According to information released today, there were 25 people submitting applications, 21 of which were determined to meet the qualifications. There will be ten appointments made to the committee with each council member making two choices. Candidates can be appointed regardless of what district they reside in.
"I'm extremely pleased to see such a great turnout of high-caliber, qualified individuals interested in joining the City of Elk Grove Multicultural Committee," Mayor Steve Detrick said. "I believe the high turnout is a reflection of both the community's priority to celebrate and educate the city's diversity, and the demand for this type of work in Elk Grove. I look forward to seeing the Committee hit the ground running and doing amazing things for this community."
