A vigilant witness to the burglary of an Elk Grove retailer resulted in the arrests of two suspects Saturday night.
According to Elk Grove Police, a witness observed 54-year-old Jospeph Stephens and 47-year-old Peter Stephens removing merchandise from storage container located behind Soccer City located on the 9600 block of E. Stockton Blvd. When the witness attempted to contact the duo, they left the area in a silver car.
The suspects then drove over to the dumpster and started loading up the car with the stolen property that was in the dumpster. As the suspects drove away, the witness followed and contacted Elk Grove Police.
The witness saw the suspects throwing merchandise out of the vehicle they were driving as EGPD officers initiated an enforcement stop. Both suspects were detained and an Adidas soccer bag was recovered at the scene.
Both suspects were arrested then transported to the main jail.
