This campaign for Elk Grove Food Bank Services is to enhance their resources which are so vital to struggling, unemployed and hungry members of our community. Davis is encouraging the following:
1. If you have a business in Elk Grove, please agree to place a collection box in your lobby so that your employees and customers can give directly to Elk Grove Food Bank Services. 2. If you are an Elk Grove resident, please dig as deep as you can and donate nonperishable food items to Elk Grove Food Bank Services at one of the participating businesses.
Since the announcement on Monday, more businesses have volunteered to participate. For an updated list of all participating businesses, visit: www.MayorGaryDavis.com.
A focus on supporting our local food bank not only will increase our self-reliance as a community, but also strengthen our local economy as a whole. Local businesses beginning November 14, will have Elk Grove Food Bank Services barrels to collect food items for the holiday season and will continue to collect food items until December 19, 2011.
Support Local is also an effort to build awareness of the importance of supporting locally owned businesses. “Our goal is to change our buying habits and unite us as a community by combining our greatest resources: Elk Grove customers and local small businesses,” Davis said.
By enjoying what our local small businesses offer, and the giving spirit of Elk Grove residents, we not only strengthen our local economy, but experience and taste what you can only find in Elk Grove. We have a choice of where we eat, shop, do business, and make charitable contributions.
Choose Elk Grove!
