The annual tradition of the Christmas CanTree construction will officially take place on Monday, November 21 at the Secret Garden in Elk Grove at 845 W. Stockton Blvd. The tree will be built from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The Christmas CanTree construction is the culmination of an annual fundraising drive sponsored by the Sacramento Association of Realtors (SAR). The tree is made up of more than 18,000 cans and is nearly 15 feet tall. The construction of the giant can tree is symbolic of SAR’s year-round fundraising efforts.

Money raised by SAR benefit The Salvation Army’s food pantry in Sacramento. Since its start in 1983, the SAR Christmas Can Tree committee has collected more than $2 million. Last year, The Salvation Army received $80,000 from SAR.

Along with the Elk Grove location, another Christmas CanTree will also be constructed at Sunrise Mall on November 22.
