With Thanksgiving just over three weeks from today, the Elk Grove Food Bank is seeking turkey donations for this year's celebration.

With the effects of the Great Recession still reverberating locally, the food bank expects demand this year to increase by 40 percent with most of that coming from seniors and children.

Turkey's can be donated at any of the following venues:

November 3-21: Turkey Drive
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
EGFBS facility – 9820 Dino Drive, Suite 140
Please drop off a frozen turkey, chicken or any non-perishable side dish such as potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, stuffing, etc.

November 19: Council Member Sophia Scherman’s 4th Annual Turkey Drive
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday
City of Elk Grove – 8380 Laguna Palms Way
Council member Scherman has been collecting turkeys for the Food Bank since 2007. She and her husband, Lee, have made this an annual event rain or shine.

November 22: Turkey Distribution
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
EGFBS facility – 9820 Dino Drive, Suite 140
