Toy Drive For Sister City Kids Underway

Elk Grove Mayor Steve Detrick is organizing a toy drive for the children of Elk Grove’s sister city Concepción de Ataco. The toy drive started today and will run through December 16.

Detrick just returned from a trip to Ataco where he witnessed firsthand the devastation of recent floods.

“Though a very proud city, their needs are great at this time," Detrick said. "In asking what we could do to help this holiday season, Concepción De Ataco Mayor Oscar Oliverio Gomez indicated small toys would be the most appreciated”

In order to make it easier to donate, a bank account has been established.

All monies donated will be transferred to Juguetón, a toy store in Ataco, whereby Mayor Gomez will purchase small toys and distribute them on behalf of those who donate to our sister children who so desperately need a little Christmas joy.

“Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated and will have a meaningful impact on children who ask for so little," Detrick added.
