An Elk Grove mother was arrested Wednesday night after causing a disturbance on a bus and endangering her child.
According to Elk Grove Police reports, 23-year old Mayra Garcia was on an e-tran bus that was operating near Bruceville Road and Elk Grove Boulevard and appeared extremely intoxicated and causing a scene on the bus. The mother was accompanied by a young child.
Responding officers located Garcia a short distance from where she left the bus with here 17-month-old child who was shivering and not wearing a coat. The suspect displayed objective signs of impairment and her demeanor changed from yelling, screaming and kicking to crying and apologizing.
Officers determined Garcia was unable to care for her child and was arrested for child endangerment. The suspect became combative and was restrained in a safety device.
Garcia was transferred to the county jail and the child was released to a relative.
