Now that the City of Elk Grove has decided to drop the contract it awarded to Elk Grove Ford for its vehicle maintenance and is moving toward awarding to Downtown Ford, who was the low bidder, the question needs to be asked - how much did the city rack up in legal fees?
Thanks to one of our readers public information request, documents show that Elk Grove has spent $29,271 in legal and administrative costs on the lawsuit brought by Downtown Ford. (See invoices here.)
To those who have followed this story will undoubtedly note Downtown Ford's bid was $30,000 lower the Elk Grove Ford's. So any taxpayer money that might have been saved, not to mention lost staff time devoted dealing with this, are gone.
At least City Attorney Jonathan Hobbs Sacramento white shoe law firm of Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard got something out of it.

The taxpayers should send Hume an invoice. He started this mess, he should pay for it!
Right...that's the only fair thing to do! Checks probably in the mail now.
The Sacramento Business Journal has a feature on Hobbs and the choice of local agencies to contract out for legal services. Only the preview is free, and to read the full article requires a paid online subscription. As a taxpayer of Elk Grove, I better save my money, because I'm sure there are plenty of other shenanigans to come!
Wonder, was this mentioned today at our State of the City address by Mayor Cooper?
Wonder was the 3.4 million given to the State and Pappas
mentioned in the address?
Wonder if the overcharges by the transit provider was mentioned?
Wonder if the half built mall was the subject of empty promises and speculation?
Wonder was there a professional sports team mentioned?
I guess C.C. and L.F. got to the councile. They seem to have controll over them. If you don't do as they say they can bring problems and accusations against you.
