EGPD Makes Arrests in Two Check Forging Attempts

Elk Grove Police made arrests in two separate incidents where suspects attempted to fraudulently cash checks.

Elk Grove Police made arrests in two separate incidents where suspects attempted to fraudulently cash checks.

In the first incident, 23-year old Kendal Ransom attempted to cash a forged check at the Chase bank branch location on Laguna Blvd. After bein gdetained, a records check revealed his was on probation.

Officers also determined that 24-year old Stephanie Johnson of Elk Grove had arrived at the bank together. Officers were able to determined that Johnson had attempted to cash a stolen and forged check at another bank in Sacramento 30 minutes earlier.

Both suspect were arrested and transferred to the county jail. Johnson has been released on bail and Ransom remains in custody.

Later yesterday afternoon police also arrested 45-yer old Robert Calderon of Elk Grove after he tried to cash a fraudulent check at the Bank of America branch on Elk Grove Blvd. Calderon was arrested at his residence after he fled the bank.

The suspect remains in custody on a $5,000 bail.
