In the aftermath of last weekend's tragic events in Wisconsin, local Sikh's held a candlelight vigil last night in Elk Grove.

Held in front of Joseph Kerr Middle School, the vigil drew several hundred people including a host of elected officials in a display of unity and solidarity.

Rather than write a story, I am going to make a few comments about last night's moving vigil.

Just prior to the event, I purchased a copy of A Tale of two Cities for my son. Ironically, events like this show the best of humanity but they are brought on by the worst of humanity.

It was good to see representatives from the Elk Grove and Sacramento LDS stakes. The two gentlemen stood in solidarity and helped hold the placard displayed to cars passing by the event. Tip of the hat to the local stakes. It would have be even better had representatives from other local congregations had showed up.

It is a shame that that people are persecuted for the appearance or belief system. On the other hand, it was good to see that people from across the political spectrum can stand united with fellow American's when it really matters.

Beautful picture of these two young boys with a message that says it call.

It is too bad when others post this link, they feel the need to post a picture of themselves instead of this one, making it polticial and about them.

Real inspirational role models don't need to self promote.

WOW...looks like a lot of people attended the vigil. Had I known about it, I would have attended to show my support. I am glad to see Elk Grove officials representing our city. Since our city was the sight of an unspeakable crime against the Sikh's a few months back, it is good to see Elk Grove residents and officials still trying to improve and protect the relationship we have with these gentle people. Hopefully, one day, with more publicity and more pressure from our police, we will find the cowards who shattered the lives of many that day on East Stockton Blvd. Thanks Dan
