Food trucks like this will become  more common in Elk Grove.
Several months in the working, the Elk Grove City Council made changes to city ordinance's that will effectively allow the increasingly popular mobile food truck more latitude in their operations within the city.

By a unanimous vote at last night's regular meeting, the council changed the ordinance that will allow food trucks to operate for up to three hours at one location between the hours 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. The trucks will also have to be at least 350 feet away from a brick and mortar restaurant unless they get permission from a restaurant to be closer than the minimum distance.

The parameters of the ordinance change came after consultation between the food truck operators, local restaurant owners and the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce. "I don't see it as being a detriment to existing restaurants," council member Sophia Scherman said.
