A Sacramento motorist who was stopped for a vehicle code violation led Elk Grove Police on a pursuit early Tuesday morning.
According to police reports, 22-year old Avneel Singh was stopped near Waterman Road and Westray Drive. As officers approached the suspects car, he drove away to a nearby neighborhood where he struck several parked cars.
Singh reportedly abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot in an effort to escape. A resident who had heard the sirens, saw the suspect fleeing from the suspect vehicle, confronted him and was able to detain him until an officer arrived.
When Singh was was contacted, he displayed objective signs of impairment and was arrested then transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment of minor injuries sustained in the collision.
Once cleared for incarceration, Singh was taken to the county jail where he remains in custody on $50,000 bail.
