Bicylist Killed in Elk Grove Vehicle Collision

Last night at 11:00 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist at Vilamoura Way and Franklin High Road.  

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a Chevy pickup truck (towing a trailer) had collided with a bicyclist who was riding outside of the bike lane on Franklin High Road just south of Vilamoura Way.  As a result of the collision, the unidentified 25-year-old male bicyclist was struck by the vehicle and trailer.  

The bicyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital where he passed away at 1:30 a.m.  The identity of the bicyclist will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.  

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was contacted at the scene and interviewed by officers.  The collision is under investigation by Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call (916) 478-8148.
