The following statement was released this afternoon by the Elk Grove Food Bank Services. |

There has been some confusion over remarks made at the recent Elk Grove City Council Meeting regarding Wal-Mart Stores and their support of the Elk Grove Food Bank Services. Wal-Mart is one of many food and general merchandise retailers in the Elk Grove area whose support has been key to our ongoing mission of serving those who suffer from the “many faces of hunger” in our community. Without their assistance it would be very difficult to carry out this critical mission.

The following statement has been issued to clarify our position.

My name is Judy Sala. On Wednesday evening, July 10th, I appeared at the Elk Grove City Council meeting representing Elk Grove Food Bank Services. “My singular purpose was to speak in support of Wal-Mart and their significant and on-going support to us.”

In my remarks I referenced their application for a liquor license. This was an error on my part. “It in no way reflects the position of the Elk Grove Food Bank Services. I sincerely regret any confusion or misunderstanding this may have created.”

Throwing Ms Sala under the bus?? Another great effort by Walmart and the Food Bank. Didn't the food bank board of directors review the comments Ms Sala made at a public meeting in advance? Am I to believe they sent her out without first reviewing her comments? Smells fishy.
