Elk Grove Police arrested four juveniles yesterday afternoon on suspicion of shoplifting at two Elk Grove department stores.

The first incident involved 13 and 14-year old boys who were suspected of shoplifting at the Burlington Coat Factory on E. Stockton Blvd. The suspects were observed shoplifting by an employee while inside the the store then passed several registers before exiting the store each carrying an armload of merchandise.

The suspects fled the scene on bicycles traveling towards Bond Road and responding officers located and detained both suspects. The 14-year old was riding a bicycle that had been stolen from in front of the business.

An employee positively identified both suspects as being responsible for the theft of merchandise. Both suspects were taken into custody then transported to juvenile hall and the recovered property was returned to the owners.

The second incident happened at the Kohls store on Calvine Road when the loss prevention personnel detained two girls aged 14 and 16 on suspicion of shoplifting. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to juvenile hall.
