An early Saturday morning attempted traffic stopped led to a short pursuit and arrest of a man with outstanding warrants.

According to Elk Grove Police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle being driven on the 8500 block of East Stockton by 47-year old Kenneth Carothers of Sacramento for an expired registration. Instead of stopping the suspect allegedly did not yield and led officers on a one mile pursuit.

The pursuit terminated when the suspect stopped the vehicle he was driving and ran away from the car. Officers gave chase before he was apprehended.

A records check revealed that Carothers had an active felony warrant out for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and taken to the county jail where he remains in custody.
