Perhaps with the realization that the shopping days to Christmas are quickly dwindling, Elk Grove Police arrested five suspects on a variety of shoplifting and check kiting charges on Saturday.

On Saturday police arrested 27-year old Quarnetta Lofton of Sacramento, 50-year old Debra Holsten of Fairfield and 32-year old Alina Johnson of Elk Grove on suspicion of shoplifting at Home Depot, Wal Mart and Target respectively. The suspected Target shoplifter also gave police a false identity.

On Saturday police also arrested 42-year old Breneth Chase of Stockton and 26-year old Kimberly Bird of Galt on suspicion of passing a fraudulent check at the Burlington Coat Factory store. Bird was also found to be in possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
