An Elk Grove man was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly drove three different cars damaging lawns and attempted to grab an officers gun holster.

Reckless driving suspect Jeffrey Springer.
According to Elk Grove Police, officers responded to the area near Falcon Meadow Way regarding a vehicle being driven recklessly across front yard lawns. Upon arrival, officers discovered that several front yard lawns had been vandalized and a possible suspect vehicle driven by 27-year old Jeffrey Springer of Elk Grove was located in the area where a vehicle stop was conducted.

During the initial investigation, officers determined that Springer had driven three different vehicles causing the damage to the lawns. When officers began conducting a sobriety test, Springer reportedly  fled on foot towards Elk Grove Park.

Officers gave chase and caught up with the suspect who resisted the officers attempts to detain him and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Springer allegedly attempted to grab an officer's gun from the holster.

Officers were able to subdue the suspect without further incident. Springer was arrested and taken to the county jail where he was booked and released on bail.
