Sacramento County Sheriff, District Attorney Endorse Pan in State Senate Bid

In one of the region's two races featuring two Democratic candidates, Assembly Member Dr. Richard Pan today formally announced the endorsement of the two highest ranking Sacramento County law enforcement officials.

Pan, who is in  very tight race against fellow Assembly Member Roger Dickinson for California's Sixth Senatorial district, formally announced the endorsements of Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones and Sacramento County District Attorney Jan Scully .

In making the endorsement in front of at the Sheriff's substation on 65th Street in Sacramento, Jones said he got to know Pan well when they were both running for their current positions in 2010.

"I got to see first hand how Dr. Pan's supports of public safety," Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones said. "He would often reach out to me to ask what he could do for me, which is a new experience for me."

Among other things, Jones said Pan was instrumental in help creating databases for metal theft and pawn shop details to track stolen property.

"He has done a number of things in his capacity, that has made me a believer that he is a true advocate and supporter of of public safety," he added.

Scully said that in her 20-years as District Attorney, Pan is the first candidate that she had sought to endorse for public office. Among other things that Scully has supported law enforcement is his opposition to legislation that would weaken sex offender registration requirements. Pan also announced the endorsement of Crime Victims United and California Police Chiefs Association.
