An Elk Grove woman was arrested yesterday afternoon after she allegedly tried  to cash a forged check.

According to Elk Grove Police, 31-year old Letrica Gordon attempted to deposit a fraudulent check at the Bank of America branch on the 8900 block of Elk Grove Boulevard. When Elk Grove Police officers arrived, Gordon fled the location with 25-year old Cherish Blakes of Sacramento.

Officers contacted both as they were walking away from the bank. The owner of the check was contacted and confirmed they did not write a check payable to Gordon.

A records check revealed that Blakes had an active warrant out for her arrest and a search of her purse led to the discovery of narcotics. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the county jail where Gordon is being held for violating terms of her probation and a $30,000 bail while Blakes is not eligible for bail.
