At 10:01 p.m.last night, the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the intersection of Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road regarding a vehicle collision involving a tow truck and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the tow truck was travelling eastbound on Elk Grove Blvd. with the right of way (green signal light), when the driver struck a pedestrian. The adult male pedestrian was dressed in dark clothing and was running across the intersection (north to south) in a marked crosswalk when he was struck.  After the collision, the tow truck driver immediately pulled over and called 9-1-1.

Medical personnel arrived and determined that the pedestrian had suffered life threatening injuries. The unidentified pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital where he passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision.

Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.  The driver of the tow truck was not injured in the collision, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the cause of this collision.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148
