Even though he has been the City of Elk Grove's attorney since the July 2011 termination of Susan Cochran, Jonathan Hobbs has been performing those duties as a contract employee. At Wednesday night's Elk Grove City Council meeting that status will change.

If approved in a public vote, Hobbs who is an employee of the Sacramento-based white shoe law firm of Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann &
Girard, Hobbs will be hired as an employee of the city. Hobbs negotiated an annual salary of $250,000.
As member #186045 with the California State Bar, Hobbs was admitted to practice in the state in December, 1996. With an undergraduate degree from Washington State University, Hobbs earned his law degree from McGeorge College of Law in Sacramento.
If approved as expected, Hobbs will be receive city regular benefits and will be eligible for severance pay equal to his annual salary if the city terminates his employment without cause. Hobbs has no current or past disciplinary actions from the state bar against him.

So, Jon "paid by the hour" Hobbs feels it's time to feather his retirement nest huh? Nothing like joining the CalPers recruitment gravy train and still steer work towards your previous employer when special situations come up! So much for competitive recruitment. Sole-source hiring.
