Elk Grove Man Arrested After Foot Chase, Taking Alleged Swing at Officer

July 18, 2016 |

An Elk Grove man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly led police on a foot pursuit and took a swing at a police officer.

Elk Grove Police responded to the 8400 block of Elk Grove-Florin Road after receiving a call of a suspicious person in the area.  Upon arrival, officers contacted 31-year old Jonathan Yum, who matched the description provided in the call.

Yum reportedly ran away through the parking lot when officers attempted to contact him when officers gave chase and were able to grab him by the arm. Yum then allegedly threw a punch at one of the officers and missed.

Officers were able to gain control of Yum and he was taken into custody when he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and narcotic paraphernalia. Yum was arrested for narcotics possession, resisting arrest and booked into the county jail but was released on bail yesterday.
