Elk Grove Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests of Suspects, One With a Concealed Loaded Handgun


Sunday night traffic stop by Elk Grove Police led to the arrests of two suspects, one of whom was allegedly in possession of a loaded handgun.

The vehicle being driven by 45-year old Tony Taylor of Elk Grove was stopped on the 7100 block of Elk Grove Boulevard for a vehicle code violation. A records check revealed Taylor had a suspended driver's license. 

A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year old Lauren Godfrey of Fair Oaks, Calif., was allegedly found in possession of a controlled substance. A search of a bag belonging to Godfrey led to the discovery of a loaded handgun, additional narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia. 

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the county jail where they remain in custody.
