With about two weeks left to go until voting is concluded in Sacramento County, Jaclyn Moreno's second mailer arrived in mailboxes yesterday. Moreno is running for one of two open at-large seats on the Cosumnes Community Services board of directors.

Given the mailer referenced in this story (see above and below) was singularly addressed to a newly registered women voter at a residence with three other male voters suggests Moreno is targeting women voters, and in this case, quite possibly newly registered voters. The copy also suggests messaging is also targeted at women voters.

The mailer features a picture of Moreno with her husband and two young daughters and makes direct a reference them in the message. The message says "I'm running for Cosumnes CSD as a first-time candidate because, in these challenging times, I believe it is important for people who value equity and inclusion to step-up and lead."

Although the message appears to be aimed at women, it also makes broader appeals saying "representation on behalf of all people matters..." The piece also features other standard mailer information such as bullet point legislative priorities, endorsement, and a testimonial, in this case from California State Senator Richard Pan.

Although positions like a director on the Cosumnes Community Service District or as a member of the Elk Grove City Council have limited influence on large gender and equity issues, the topic of gender equality and inclusion have become rallying issues for women candidates on all levels. Along with Moreno, Elk Grove City Council candidate Stephanie Nguyen's, who like Moreno is the mother of two daughters, first mailer for the city District 4 seat was also focused on women voters with inferences to gender equality issues.

Moreno is one of four candidates seeking the two positions on the CCSD Board of Directors. Also running are incumbent Rod Brewer, Koi Rivers, and Jerry Braxmeyer.
