South Sacramento CHP issues scam alert to motorist

The south Sacramento field office of the California Highway Patrol has issued a scam advisory for motorist oo Sacramento freeway.

CHP field offices have received several calls from motorists about activity on U.S. 50 near S.R. 99. The callers report of a male stepping in front of moving vehicles signaling them to stop.

When stopped, the man tells motorists he ran out of gas and needed financial assistance. The man, who claims to be from out of state, then reportedly tries to sell jewelry or just ask for cash.

In addition to these local reports, the CHP says this scam has been happening throughout the state.

The suspect is described as male, approximately 25-30 years old and of middle eastern descent and his vehicle is a black SUV. If this individual attempts to stop you, please do not stop and call 911.
