After four days the City of Elk Gove, Police Departments' websites offering limited access after network failure
A network failure by a vendor of the City of Elk Grove and Elk Grove Police Department has caused two websites' to have limited access.
The initial failure started around noon on Thursday, February 4. It was not until Friday that the city was able to restore limited functionality to the website.
According to Elk Grove public information officer Kristyn Laurence, the city's vendor Intrado, which offers Elk Grove and other municipalities web services through CivicLive Services, has experienced a hardware failure that has affected access. Other nearby cities affected, including Vallejo, whose website has been down since Thursday.
Laurence confirmed that the outage was not a cyber attack on the city's networks or CivicLive's system. The San Francisco Chronicle reports Intrado expects the problem to be resolved by sometime today in a story about Vallejo's failure.
"Intrado's incident response team has continued to make progress to restore service for all customers. They have stated that customers in the CivicLive space that have not seen recovery already will likely remain offline into the day on Monday," Laurence confirmed in an email.
The outage forced the rescheduling of the Thursday night Elk Grove Planning Commission after the telecast meeting could not be broadcasted. Laurance said contingency plans are being developed today in case the network is not restored in time for Wednesday night's city council meeting.
Laurence added city "staff will come up with a contingency plan tomorrow [Monday] for meeting needs in case the contractor’s timeline does not hold up."
