Davis receives early endorsement in Sacramento County Supervisor bid, seeks endorsements & contributions

Today Sacramento County Supervisor District 5 candidate Gary Davis received an endorsement in his just announced 2022 candidacy. In an email blast and Facebook page posting, Davis said the Sacramento-based Region Business had endorsed his candidacy.

In his email, Davis said economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 economy would be critical and said his experience on the Elk Grove City Council is well-suited to meet those goals. Region Business is a pro-business advocacy group.

The email said, "As a former Elk Grove Mayor, Council Member, small business owner, and lifelong Sacramento County resident, I know the challenges ahead in a post-COVID Sacramento County. We’ll need to rebuild our local economy the same way we did when I was Mayor during the Great Recession. Elk Grove emerged stronger then and Sacramento County will too."

Regarding Region Businesses' endorsement, Davis' email said, "they know that we must be laser focussed on our local jobs, rebuilding our local economy and that an experienced community leader is what we need in this unprecedented time."

Davis was the second candidate last week to formally announce they will seek the seat being vacated by Supervisor Don Nottoli, who has represented the 5th District since 1994. Davis, a former Elk Grove Mayor and City Councilmember, and Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno announced their candidacies last week before Nottoli's confirmation that he would not seek an eighth term.

The race for the seat will be on the June 2022 primary. If no candidate wins a 50-percent majority, the top two finishers will advance to the November 2022 general election.

Besides Moreno and Davis, Elk Grove Vice Mayor Stephanie Nguyen has expressed interest in running but has not declared her candidacy.

In addition to announcing Region Business' support, Davis also solicited individual endorsements and cash donations. Davis ended his email by saying, "You know that I will run a lean and effective campaign and spend many hours going door-to-door to earn votes. Despite this, I must raise a substantial sum to ensure that I have a winning team in place and that we are ready to deliver my message to the voters."

Joshua Wood, executive director of Region Business, acknowledged the endorsement but offered no further comment.

Is anyone else sick and tired of Gary Davis always using the term "laser focused?"

Sick of the word "phenomenal" too!

Sick of the phrase, "Throw the baby out with the bathwater."

Same ole Davis! Same ole shtick!
