Davis files paperwork officially terminating supervisor campaign fundraising activities

Davis' press release announcing his candidacy for the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.

Paperwork submitted to the Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections indicates Gary Davis has terminated campaign fundraising activities in his bid for the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.

On a Calfornia Form 410 Statement of Organization (see below), Davis filed for termination. According to the information on the document, the committee has "ceased to receive contributions and make expenditures."

Earlier this year, Davis entered the race for the District 5 seat being vacated in 2022 by Don Nottoli, who has served on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors since 1994. Davis entered the race after Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno declared her candidacy but before Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume entered.

Although Davis raised $7,020 for his supervisorial campaign and had $38,313 in an Elk Grove campaign committee, his activities suddenly stopped by mid-April. Political insiders postulate Hume's entrance and sway with real estate developers influenced Davis' non-activity starting at about the same time.

Davis served as the District 4 Elk Grove City Councilmember from 2006 until 2012, when he became the city's first directly-elected mayor. In a surprising last-minute decision in July 2016, Davis dropped his bid for a third two-year term.

Last year Davis was rumored to be interested in running against his one-time protege, former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly. Davis formerly conducted community outreach for California Northstate University when pursuing its proposed 400-bed hospital in Elk Grove's Stonelake neighborhood.

A resident of the Stonelake neighborhood, Davis reportedly recently listed his primary residence for sale.
