In January two workshops will be held for transportation projects that will be instrumental to Elk Grove residents.
On Saturday, January 8 a workshop will be held on the Capital Southeast Connector Road project. That project will connect Interstate 5 and Highway 99 to U.S. Hwy. 50 in El Dorado Hills via Kammerer and Grant Line roads in Elk Grove.
One of the largest obstacles for the project is on the Grant Line Road segment through Elk Grove's Sheldon community. The road, which is an expressway designed to reduce traffic funneled through Sacramento faces opposition from residents in the Sheldon community who are concerned the connector project will destroy their rural community and businesses located along Grant Line Road between Bond and Sheldon roads.
As part of the workshop, participants will be asked for input on several options for an intermediate intersection location between Sheldon and Calvine roads. The results of this meeting will be reviewed and incorporated into the Final Precise Roadway Plan Report.
The meeting is hosted by Elk Grove's public works department and will be held between 8 and 10 a.m. at The Barn Cafe located at 8976 Grant Line Road.
The other transportation workshop is being conducted on Tuesday, January 11 by The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission. The virtual public meeting will cover the draft environmental impact report for the proposed rail station on Dwight Road on the city's west side.
The 45-day review period of the EIR repost began on December 3 and ends on January 17, 2022. Formal comments for the
Environmental Impact Report should be in writing and sent to
