With a low ballot return rate, supporters of Republican Hume target Democratic voters

With a low rate of ballot returns in Sacramento County Board of Supervisors District 5 and the clock ticking down as voting closes, Republican Pat Hume and groups supporting him are now targeting Democratic voters.

Two registered District 5 Democratic voters shared screenshots of text messages they received this evening. The recipient of the message posted above was a female voter over 50, and the message, funded by the National Association of Realtors, focused on homelessness.

The text message below was sent from the Hume campaign. This Hume campaign message was sent to a male voter in the 18-34-year-old group and was about public safety, which appears incongruent with Democratic voters' concerns in this age bracket.

While Hume entered the race as the presumed frontrunner, the targeting of Democratic voters at this point of the race suggests the race between him and his Democratic opponent Jaclyn Moreno could be tightening.
