Budget manager leaves Elk Grove for Manteca

Elk Grove's budget manager has left the employ of the city for another Central Valley City.

On September 1, Shay Narayan filed a state of economic interest upon leaving office. While the statement did not say why Mr. Narayan left the city, it was learned that Manteca had hired him.

According to the Manteca/Ripon Bulletin, Narayan is now Manteca's finance manager. According to the Bulletin's reporting, Manteca had a "quick succession of city managers and turnover at the top of the finance department, the city was unable to get a correct read on its books."

Narayan started with Elk Grove in 2014 as a budget analyst and was promoted to budget manager. As Manteca's finance manager, Narayn will be the sixth highest-paid city employee and can earn up to $225,960 and will start on September 11.
