Assemblymember Nguyen recognized by CCSD for securing veterans memorial grant

During their Wednesday, October 4 meeting, the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors recognized Assemblymember Stephnie Nguyen (D - Elk Grove) for her help in securing grant money for a veterans memorial.

Nguyen was instrumental in securing $100,000 from the 2024 State Budget for the project’s next phase. The memorial will be located at the Elk Grove Regional and will honor veterans who died in the line of duty and those who served.

“The project's next phase includes the installation of a memorial wall to commemorate the service of veterans from Elk Grove and the surrounding region,” Phil Lewis, Cosumnes CSD General Manager said. “This phase can now be completed due to Assemblymember Nguyen’s efforts.”

The site will include a trail, a bronze star monument with a flagpole, concrete paving, benches, and a plaza with engraved dedication pavers. Constuction will start early next year and will be completed within six months.
