Overnight warming center in Elk Grove to operate for two evenings



With freezing overnight temperature forecast the next two days, the city of Elk Grove will open a warming center.

Staring this evening through Thursday, January 16, the city will operate the overnight warming center at the Wackford Community & Aquatic Complex, 9014 Bruceville Road. If freezing temperatures continue, sist, the operating days may be extended.

The warming center is open from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. each day to adults over 18 without shelter or adequate home heating. A limited number of animal kennels will be available to house pets, if needed.

Trained security professionals will staff the space. Families with children will be referred to a motel voucher program.
