Elk Grove Democratic City Councilmen to Address The Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club

With elections quickly approaching, two Democratic Party members on the Elk Grove City Council will give speeches next week at the Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club meeting.

Appearing before the club will be Councilman Darren Suen and Vice Mayor Steve Ly. Both men were sworn into office in December, 2014.

Suen, who will be making his first appearance on a ballot this November for Elk Grove's City Council District 1 seat, was appointed upon the resignation of Jim Cooper, who won a seat in 2014 on the California State Assembly. As of today's posting, Suen has no announced opponents.

The other councilman, Steve Ly, won his seat on the City Council in 2014 after serving less than half of the four year term he was elected to on the Elk Grove Unified School District board in 2012. As he did in 2014, Ly is attempting to abandon that office for another position, this time for Elk Grove Mayor, before completion of his full-term to which he was elected.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, August 9 at the Elk Grove Public Library on the corner of Elk Grove Boulevard and Elk Grove-Florin Road. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
