January 17, 2017 |

An unknown suspect who injured a person while posing as a purchaser eluded arrest after leading Elk Grove Police on a vehicle pursuit.

On the early afternoon of Saturday, January 14, the victim agreed to meet a person claiming to be interested in purchasing their vehicle on the 5000 of Laguna Boulevard. After inspecting the vehicle, the victim agreed to let the suspect test drive the vehicle with the understanding that the victim would be riding as a passenger.

Once inside the car, the suspect did not unlock the passenger side and started the engine. The suspect began driving erratically in reverse before the victim was able to get into the car.

While backing up, the victim was struck causing visible injuries. Responding officers located the vehicle being driven by the suspect traveling eastbound on Laguna Boulevard.

When officers attempted to conduct an enforcement stop, the suspect did not yield and led officers on a short pursuit. The pursuit ended near West Stockton Boulevard after the vehicle was driven onto a center median.

The suspect exited the car and fled on foot towards a retail shopping area. Officers established a perimeter but were unable to locate the suspect.

No physical description of the suspect was released.
