An elderly man who attempted to assist an elderly female robbery victim died of a heart attack after being assaulted last night in Stockton.

According to Stockton Police, investigators determined that an unknown male suspect entered the room of the female victim, who is in her 80's, residing in a retirement community facility on the 800 block of East March Lane in the Valley Oak District and began taking her property. Coming to her aid was the adult male victim, also in his 80's, who was attacked by the suspect.

As a result of the attack, the victim went into cardiac arrest and died. The female victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the investigation. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late 30’s 5’08”, 150 lbs, wearing a dark colored jacket, dark pants, and black gloves.
