In home stretch, Stafford releases Elk Grove mayoral 'new lens' campaign video

October 29, 2018 |

With voting underway, and campaigns preparing for the final week of the 2018 election, candidates are ramping up their respective efforts.

While local candidates rely on traditional methods like mailers and lawn signs, they are also focusing on other methods to generate support. Along with social media, candidates are turning to videos and Elk Grove mayoral candidate Tracie Stafford is no exception.

In the three minute video, which was released today, Stafford discusses her upbringing and her reasons for running for the office. The video, which could be dubbed the "new lens," outlines the main focuses of her campaign.

Without mentioning her opponents by name, Stafford suggests issues like traffic, and homelessness have gone unaddressed by the current city council. Her opponents, Steve Ly and Darren Suen, both serve on the Elk grove City Council as mayor and vice mayor respectively

"It's time to focus on the residents that live here," Stafford says in her presentation. Stafford has said throughout her campaign that the city council should spend more time on providing enhanced services for current residents rather than expanding the city's boundaries.

Although Stafford has raised a respectable amount of donations for her candidacy, she had not been  able to match the funds generated by Ly and Suen who have the advantage of being office holders. Nonetheless, one source has told Elk Grove News that according to polling that they saw that has been conducted in the last week, but not independently verified, "all three candidates are within striking distance of one another."
