Homeowner arrested after allegedly discharging shotgun during reported in-progress Elk Grove burglary



An Elk Grove man is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after he allegedly discharged a shotgun during what he described as in-progress burglary.
At approximately 2:30 p.m on Saturday, October 26, Elk Grove police officers were dispatched to the 8900 block of Lake Elsinore Court regarding a reported residential burglary that was interrupted by the homeowner. The homeowner told police he armed himself with a shotgun and fired two rounds inside his home.
Responding officers established a perimeter around the residence. Based on the 911 report that the suspects were armed, the SWAT team responded.
After searching the dwelling, no suspects were located and based on their investigation, detectives determined no burglary occurred. The homeowner, Jospeph Faria, 23, was arrested for felony negligent discharge of a firearm. 

Faria is held on $25,000 bail and will be arraigned on Tuesday, October 23.
