Elk Grove Mayor has new day job with Elk Grove-based trade association

Like all members of the Elk Grove City Council, Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen is a part-time official earning a modest salary. And like her fellow council members, she has a day job.

According to information released by the Capitol Morning Report, Singh-Allen has taken on an additional job. Singh-Allen is now an executive vice president with the American Petroleum and Convenience Store Association.

Capitol Morning's post says Singh-Allen "will oversee the overall association operations" and "play a key role representing the interests of APCA at the local, state, and federal level."

According to the website, "APCA was formed to unite independent gasoline and convenience store owners" and "hopes to be a grassroots organization providing representation to small independent gasoline and convenience store owners." The group has its office in Elk Grove and was founded in 2012.

Reached by phone, Singh-Allen noted the details of her role with APCA were in the works, and once they are established, they will be announced.
