Rep. Ami Bera (D) announced today that as part of the 2022 Fiscal Year government funding package, which passed the House of Representatives yesterday, $3.76 million has been secured for District 7 projects.

Among the projects being funded are $520,000 earmark for Elk Grove Police Department Communications Center Renovation. According to Bera's announcement:

Funding would be used to upgrade and integrate the Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) into the Communications and Dispatch Center. These investments will allow the City to expand partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and professionals outside of law enforcement to improve community services. For example, the upgrades would allow for the direction of some 9-1-1 calls related to mental health and homelessness to non-profit partners for a response instead of a law enforcement response.

Some of the other in-district projects include $580,000 for the Citrus Heights Water District; $350,000 for Rancho Cordova's youth center; $320,000 for the Southgate Parks and Recreations Department's Tillotson Parkway Extension; and $275,000 for WEAVE's permanent supportive housing units.

“These investments will support vital water infrastructure projects in our region, will improve public safety, and will fund the construction of important youth and recreation centers, " Bera said. "This funding will go a long way in making Sacramento County healthier, safer, and stronger for generations to come.”
